Obligatory Post
I don't really have anything blog worthy to say. But that never stopped Dan Theologian. So what ever happened to Mr. Theo? I was looking at an old post, "Cell Phone Zombies". It was one of the few I ever wrote that had over 100 individuals comment, 227 e-props. I started visiting all the sites of those who left comments only to discover nearly half of them haven't posted in over a year. Many others had shut down their sites.
Xanga seems a lot like a chess board these days. Fewer and fewer pieces to keep track of. I never was good at closing in a chess match. I enjoy the board better when all the pieces are scattered about engaging each other in intricate relationships. I like it when my paintings and music have the same feel.
My job is like that most of the time, 20 to 30 men all engaged in a different aspect of the roofing process. Today our crew was much smaller, 10 men. Sometimes I like the intimate atmosphere of a small crew. I can keep busy actually working with my hands. And so I sit here and type, just as I roofed, in a smaller more intimate environment.
It isn't really a bad thing. I get to read a few blogs more carefully, comment more thoughtfully. Well perhaps I will do just that tomorrow night. All the fresh air and sunshine, working with my hands and trying to fill the void Theo Dan has left behind really has me ready to lie back and close my eyes for a while...
Maybe I will get a second wind and get to your site tonight. Leave a comment and I promise I will stop by and visit with you very soon, maybe tonight, more likely though tomorrow. Yeah. I have no other plans for my Friday night, than to visit my Xanga friends...

I see xanga like a gathering of supportive friends . You know that .In friendshipMichel
I think it certainly has been more quiet around here.
HEY! You came to visit me.
Oh happy day. Sometimes when you don't have a lot to say, you end up saying something worthwhile anyway.
We need a new roof too. Do you think some people are actually on line to give direction to the conversations lest they get out of hand in a direction 'they' don't think conversations should go? Probably lots of fake people shutting down creative thinkers. Probably even get paid by politicians to monitor real people with fakeness.
I use Xanga mainly to keep up and stay in touch with daughter Valerie (aka "murisopsis"), but her friends have become mine too sort of...I liked your blog post and art...and kind of remember a fellow named "Dan". I don't blog every day. Heck! I'm 81 years old so do as I please most of the time.
Dan Theologian is being detained on suspicion of thoughtcrime and insubordination. Curiously, his appeals for character witnesses have gone flatly ignored, along with his claims of theological erudition. All the members assumed he was joking.
Yeah, what happened to Theo???
Ah, Mr. Dan jumped ship. I think he saw the handwriting on the wall. I mean it's not like the Xanga team has been giving any indication they really want this to succeed.... And he is upset that they are changing it and charging. I have to admit I will be gone when they ask for money, I can blog for free other places or on other sites that have more depth than I have found on Xanga. As to Dan's posts.... I personally found about half of them offensive. Half-naked women and boobs are not worthy of reading in my book. He usually just posted one liner "what do you think" that would be controversial enough to get lots of comments. He was a comment whore, nothing more. I don't think I ever read a post of his with any depth or insight.
this post was beautiful....I love the background colors.
*hugs*!
Yeah... It's nice to be able to actually read posts. To take a breather, so to speak! I will miss it.
Dear John,Dan is running a group on Facebook called "Xangaforever". I'm still blogging as usual, and I still get my requisite 10-15 comments. So for me, it seems as it nothing's changed. (unless I look at top blogs, like I just did.)Michael F. Nyiri poet, philosopher, fool
I never did understand why T Dan was so popuar. Once I realized what he was doing, I stopped reading his stuff. The few of us who are still here should keep posting and commenting so it gets more lively! We had somebody come and look at our roof the other day because we had a tiny leak during a downpour and also some naked shingles. I'm happy to say, she said they could just do some maintenance work. We had it redone just ten years ago and only plan to live here for four more years. She said we should wait until we are closer to selling it before we reshingle.
Wait... wait... Dan is GONE?!?! *dramatically falls to her knees and reaches for the heavens* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *weeps incessantly like a little girl on prom night*Now that I have come back I have found that a lot of people I really enjoyed have gone, I can only hope to bring back their spirit with my style of blogging... RIP old friends, you will all be missed.
It has been quiet in the halls of Xanga somedays spooky quiet...
It does seem that we have more time for each other right now. But I'm looking forward to the new Xanga and those who may come aboard then.I always struggled with work that required me to get down on my knees - such as shingling a roof or tiling a floor. (sort of wish that someone would need me to do something, though)You are always welcome at my site!
Go wish @Seedsower Happy Birthday you DingDongSon!
I miss Dan,too.come to my booth and see my girlfiend and me. I dont' know why the other dealers call us trouble? LOL I haven't gotten my Xanga email yet.
I am glad to see people are still posting here
BTW some of those sites could have changed or opened up a new site on xanga
Will you take over the posting of the boobies come Fall!? Xanga was never about numbers ("the masses") for me...it was always about individual Xangans. Things are quieter around here...but some of the best Xangans are still posting. You, Dear Friend, were/are always a delight! HUGS!!!
Roofing and attic jobs in the summer-that's a lot of hot down here! I don't miss Dan's posts.
I have no Friday plans, too. LOL
xanga is extremely quiet now. I rarely read Dan's posts so I hadn't noticed he was gone. I'm still waiting on an email to tel me to try the new xanga 2.0... I like your paintings too. breath of fresh air.
it's quite a pleasure not to see his 'posts' - i much prefer a little thought than a little - well let's leave it for the imagination...
wow, I don't think I ever got that many comments. When I posted about views, those happened because I was getting visits from people that possibly didn't even have a xanga site. I knew of one person like that - she was from my church and commented on my stuff regularly to me in person but she didn't even have a xanga site. But her daughter did and she was friends with my son who introduced me to xanga.
The xangaverse has shrunk. This refutes the theory that the xangaverse will continually expand... Anyway I am able to get around more quickly and am enjoying that the trolls have abandoned xanga too.
^^ I agree. I wish I'd been reading you all along. So maybe that's a gift of the chessboard.
I'd much rather read your posts anyhow!
@ZSA_MD - You are making me laugh out loud!
WOW! Yeah where is Mr. Theo? Until you wrote about that here, I didn't even realize that he has been missing. Dang! The man deserved more apathy, I mean empathy from the likes of me...and just when I had completely forgotten that he existed, you bring his name up. If he is reading my comment, I hope he recognizes a joke when he sees one.
I wish you and your roofing crew lived near here. My husband and son own a building that needs a new roof. It's rented to a powder coating company, so the man who plans to do the roof (with some of his buddies) keeps waiting for the right kind of weather so the powder coating people can keep working. You're right about Xanga. I miss people, but I really was getting too many friends, if that's possible.
So sad.
