Encouragement
And courage meant meeting life's challenges head on
While walking in the woods
one overcast day
my eyes to the ground
lost in thought
my soul feeling downI noticed the fallen leaves
in their state of decay
the broken branches
the soft rotten logs
the forest in disarrayeverything I saw
had plenty to say
death was the friend
who would meet me
at the end of my stayThat is until thunk
a squirrel was a skunk
hurling acorns my way
forcing me to look up
and thus lifted the greyThere were birds in the trees
their songs on the breeze
the sun poking fun
at a stellar blue jay
my life was not doneSometimes the squirrels are people
sometimes the trees are steeples
sometimes it takes a few nuts
to make us see that we can play
and that is encouraging

Excellent.
I are a nut! I like nuts! ALL the different kinds!
You are such a good poet! Your word pictures are so vivid! You'd make a great story writer/poem writer for children!
I find much encouragement and joy and peace in nature!
HUGS!!!
Beautifully written!!
You are funny!
Thanks for the smile. I don't know about being an angel. Sometimes I feel like an old lady with a broom!
you are funny. Encouraging me to look for my leg.
yes, a few nuts.
Eyes to heaven is the way I would like to walk but I tend to look down. I love the detail of the forest floor but it never depresses me -only creates awe in the Creator's handiwork! This poem is nicely done - are you going to put together a little book of verses with original illustrations???
Well said, my friend!
