For a Friend
Don't let life pass you by
Don't just tag along for the ride
Pick up your pace
Join in the race
And every once in a while
GlideDon't let opportunity give you the slip
Don't get caught alone and adrift
Look your fans in the face
Run the bases with grace
And every once in a while
SlideRemember only we determine our fate
So there is no reason to wait
Now is the wine to taste
There is no time to waste
And every once in a while
CollideGet up and go before your get up is gone
Get things done before too long
We'll run out of tomorrows
And be left only with sorrows
If we never step up and
Decide

Go ahead now, Man, such a hunter, do not wait for the dawn and its thousand lights gilds the sky.

thanks John - this poem may not be for me but I sure took it to heart. Have yourself a great weekend!
This means we have to pilot our life as much as possible by glide, slide, collide ( not too much ...)and decide . A great philosophy of life put in verses with rhymes. Bravo ,John.

Wonderful and so true! We must live life with no regrets and be willing to take some chances!
So very beautiful.....Well versed....:-)
Love this poem---I am 80 years old now and it is true--time will run out before we know it.
I give you a "rec" and an ASWESOME MINI!
This is beautiful! And I love the words that you ended each stanza with!
You should set this to music!
HUGS and Happy Friday!!!
I too liked this one.
I like it too. Is it all right to glide a lot when you are 76?
good cheerful one.
RYC: thank you. I have responded to it on my blog. You are very kind.
These are words I should live by.
Love it!! The form and the subject are a delight. I may be inspired to do a rhyme... maybe.
