Gatos en la Noche
January 1st 2012, whilst in Guayaquil I turned to close the shade before retiring for the evening.
A shadow caught my eye shifting swiftly across the courtyard beyond the alley.
A cat scampered across the concrete wall and up the Spanish tile roof, followed by its shadow, and then another and its shadow and yet one other and its shadow.
As quickly as they appeared, they vanished somewhere, where cats go to gather in the night.
Too abrupt to capture with my camera I grabbed my sketchbook and rendered the fleeting moment.

Pen and watercolor 1-1-2011
I have been wanting to translate this moment onto canvas and finally yesterday I began...
Acrylic on canvas 9-11-14
And today I continued...
"Tres Gatos en el Tejado"
The Ghost Pepper shrub is contrived.
I shall endeavor to complete the piece by day's end mañana.

RYC ; Thanks for your visit, John. It is comforting.
I absolutely love this! Nice work!
charming, it is a joy to bring a remembered scene or face to life, isn't it such joy ? I very muck like your art, lively and sweet.
The latest is very much worked. Look at the tiles of the roof at the foreground. Very precise shapes: Like roman or provencal tiles;
And the bright of the last one adds to this feeling of sunny area such Provence, Florida, California. Your dream, probably,John.

Awesome! Me gusta los gatos!
Please read :this mysterious night dance ...
Son los gatos redondas, sombras redondas.
This mysterious nighty dance would be well ornated with a musical background . Make a try John,.

I love noticing cats going out for the night and then seeing them come home. As a teen, I saw a cartoon that made me laugh. A cat had bloodshot eyes, but it was like a road map of his night life--Sally, Betty, Sue, Alice..... lol
Love your painting.
I'm smiling - cats in the night silently dragging their shadows across the wall.
A ghost pepper shrub with ghostly cats. I like it.
